Creative Media Year 9 - Photoshop – Term 01 2011
Avatar Reflection/evaluation:
• Describe any problems or difficulties you encountered during the creation and editing of your avatar. These may include; technical difficulties corrupt or missing files, knowledge of Photoshop tools issues. Etc.
Problems and difficulties I encountered during the creation of my avatars include technical difficulties corrupt, missing files and knowledge of Photoshop tools issues. At the start of the projects I had hired out a laptop to play around with Photoshop and test what I wanted to do for my real Avatars. During the progress I started my happy avatar and I accidentally exited Photoshop when I had done so well. In the middle of the term I lost my USB and it had my whole project on it and I was stressing out, until someone handed it in to the office. I also have tremendously struggled with the knowledge of Photoshop tools! I really find it difficult to use Photoshop, I really only found this out when I took a laptop home to finish my Avatars, and I realized I was stuck without having Mr. Powell with me. I then had to watch some tutorials of blackboard to remember.
• Explain whether your planning and organization (of ideas, files, inspiration) helped during the technical creation;
Although I changed my mind on a few ideas, planning my projects Avatars main meanings did help me a lot through the process of the technical creation. Otherwise I would have struggled in each lesson and kept on changing my mind whether when you have the one good idea you stick to it.
• Clarify any time-management issues you encountered during the process and describe the steps you implemented to improve in this area;
Time-management issues I encountered during the process was majorly that I was so determined to get this porcelain look to her skin and I didn’t know how to so I wasted my whole time figuring out what to do. Also not using the whole time of Mr. Powell’s classes to do the work, I got to distracted. To improve in this area is to control my time through making sure I don’t spend to much time on one thing and trying to put my head down and complete the work in class. So then I’m not left on the weekend finishing of the work that could have been done in class.
• Discuss whether you undertook adequate and detailed reflection to throughout your project. Have you provided enough evidence to support your work? (Look back at your blogs/journals and think about whether it looks like a whole terms worth of work);
I am very proud of my adequate and detailed reflections on my blogs. I significantly did a blog after every lesson we had and have provided a lot of evidence to support my work, with 23 lessons posted on my blog and in total 36 posts.
• List any skills, techniques or tricks you have discovered during the project.
Skills, techniques and tricks I have discovered during the project includes:
➢ How to change hair and eye color
➢ Make up on to skin
➢ Adding another dimension
➢ Photo retouching
➢ Animal morphing
➢ Layers
➢ Adding and changing features
➢ Changing textures
➢ Putting a background as the base of the picture
➢ Clone stamp
➢ Lasso tool
Discuss your feelings about the Avatar task:
• Are you satisfied with the final result?
I am satisfied with the final result, of course in my mind it definitely was designed perfect but for me to have done it all by myself I am very proud. I’m so delighted at my second Avatar because it was a lot faster progress because from doing the first happy avatar I understood what to do.
• Would like to change any aspects of your avatar?
The aspect that I would like to change about my happy avatar is her clothing. I’m not very happy with it because it makes her look more like a grandma then a doll. I would also like to change that I didn’t take much care when rubbing out edges, on both of the avatars.
• If you could start the project again what would you do differently?
If I was able to start the project again I would change my first Avatar because I think I got to stressed and worried that I couldn’t do it when I could. This made me just want to get it over and done whether if I did it again I would be more careful with both avatars and make them perfect.
• Are you pleased with the progress you have made in using Photoshop?
Yes I am pleased with the progress I have made in using Photoshop since at the start of the term I didn’t even know how to add a different layer! I have developed my skills throughout the term and have finally got the hang of using Photoshop to redesign a photo.
