Evaluation:

Mise-en-scene and Setting Evaluation:

Briefly Describe the Setting/Location and the type of activity/ies would usually take place in this setting?

The setting and the location is in Paris which the main character has moved to Paris for his writing. In this setting it would usually take place in Paris would be the one of those dark and spoky places but from the opposite there could be some places that would be really colourful and busy.
What props have been included in the setting to convey an intended message or describe the activity/ies taking place?
They have used old  clothes and furniture like in the man's room he was using the old typing machine or even the stores and buildings that they show us tells us what kind of village and what we can know that the man who speaks on the background is the man who is typing as he is telling us what he had experienced.
What does the contrast (light levels, difference between dark or bright areas) indicate about this setting?

The lighting levels and the difference between dark and bright scenes explains that how gloomy and dark as they use only black and white but on the other hand when they use bright lightnings with colourful props or costumes it tells how busy and crazy they are.

What type of tones or colours are used within the setting; pleasant, simple, cheery, bleak. (Also consider the lighting).
It's using a bleak and simple tone of settings which they only use black and white for the first scene but for the second one it's very cheerful, crazy and bright as they use very bright and colourful lights and colourful costumes which creates the cheery mood.

Describe the spaciousness of this setting (Cramped or open/roomy).

It could be both as they show us the man's room which it looks it's all trapped and this creates a gloomy mood but on the other side we could say that they are very opened as they show us the whole village and moves all around the village and show us what there are.

Describe the physical state (messy, neat, formal).

It's messy, crazy but also very calm but gloomy as they show us both.
What is the general atmosphere of this setting (what moods or feelings does it invoke)?

I think it's telling me that the man in the movie is regretting or in depressed as he is crying and writing a story in a dark trapped room but when they show us the colourful scene the mood changes to happy.
Describe the acting style of the characters within this setting?

well when the man is telling us the story he was crying at the same time which this kind of explains that he is a really emotional person.

How does this setting contribute to the acting style and character/s personality?

The setting goes well with the style of acting because the droopy city fits with the ill and depressed characters within the city, while the party setting fits well with the dancers and cheerful people within the 'happening' atmosphere.

Cinematography Evaluation

General Cinematography Evaluation
What types of shots are used to convey the intended message in this scene?

extreme close up to show what he was writing and to show his facial emotions and also it has used flash back to show what he did or what he had experienced in the past.

How does the use of framing convey information to the audience; by hiding or showing specific elements and information.
???

Describe how the camera position affects each shot?

As they use the camera position in different angles it creates different moods and environment but also it helps to appeal the personality of the character. when the camera was just showing us the man's face with extreme close up we could actually feel and know what he is feeling like and what he is trying to do, or when the camera was showing the women with colourful clothes they moved the camera constantly moved and shakes and this helps to tell that how busy and crazy it was.
What type of camera movement takes place and how does it enhance the shot?

the camera was stable and usually used close and and medium shot or even extreme close up when the camera was showing the man writing this simply tells us what he is doing and how he feels as it creates gloomy and depressed mood.
Does the cinematographer make specific use of under or over exposure to convey a message?

yes,  it actually shows us the whole village and when the man was typing it was just focusing on the words.
List 5-10 of the most important shots from your selected scene and describe the following:
Focal point
(does it shift or remain constant)

I think it would be the first sentence which they show us "Paris 1900" and this stays for few seconds and this tells us what time period would this movie is and even gives a hint of the story which Paris was the city where a lot of arts and music or even some stories were produced.
or after this there when the camera show the huge mouth of the village written in "Montmartre" which were the place where a lot of artists went and also shows clergyman saying go away from this village was pretty impressing.
Shot type

the type of the shot is a medium shot/long shot as it shows the clergyman's waist and at  the same time showing the huge mouth with people walking away.
Framing/perspective

It is only showing us a limited place in this shot which is mainly framing of the man saying go away and focusing with the huge mouth with "Montmartre" on it.
Camera position/movement

First they zoom in really quickly to clergyman and slows down when he speaks with medium shot and after the camera passes the man and than focuses at the gate and moves very quickly by showing us the village and slows down when the camera shows the people.
